Rian Johnson Marks Start of Production for Knives Out

Rian Johnson is still set to make his own Star Wars trilogy for Lucasfilm. But before returning to a galaxy far away, he's going to returning to his more realistic roots with the film Knives Out. The movie is apparently pikcing up a lot of steam as Johnson has just marked the start of production.

The film has been described as a ‘modern-day murder mystery in the classic whodunit style.' Daniel Craig is attached to play the lead, and with good timing as well. Probably the reason he has time to star in Knives Out is because of Bond 25 getting delayed after Danny Boyle left the project.

Besides Craig, the movie also has some star-studded cast members in the form of Chris Evans, Lakeith Stanfield, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Ana de Armas.

We don't know much about the main story of Knives Out as well, but it's said to be in the same vein of Johnson's earlier work like Looper and Brick. After all the backlash from The Last Jedi, I can imagine that Johnson would want to distance himself from Star Wars for a while just to get away from the still-ranting fanboys.

Personally, I love everything that Johnson did with The Last Jedi, and I thought his more human treatment of Luke in the film is often overlooked by the fans. Though I can't really pin anything down on Johnson's directing visually, I could say that he's a fantastic writer, and he pumps out some really well thought-out stories.

No release date has been set for Knives Out or Rian Johnson's Star Wars trilogy.
