New Trailer for ‘Dora and the Lost City of Gold’ Gives Us Look at Swiper and Boots

We never really thought we would get here, but a Dora the Explorer movie is coming to theaters this August. Paramount Pictures has released a whole new trailer for the film, and it gives us a new look at some of Dora's animal friends as well as some nods to the original cartoon.

We've known that Boots will be in the film for a while, and he'll be voiced by Danny Trejo (Machete), but so far it looks like he'll just be making random animal squeaks rather than actually talking. We also have a good look at Swiper the Fox who I think is supposed to be some kind of imaginary friend; he's voiced by Benicio del Toro (Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Guardians of the Galaxy).

While we didn't get any hints of it in the first trailer, we actually get a scene where Dora is the same age as she is on the show. They even found a way to incorporate how Dora would talk to the audience into the film; it's funny how they made it look like she's talking to no one, and her parents just hope that she ‘grows out of it.'

Having spent most of her life exploring the jungle with her parents, nothing could prepare Dora (Isabela Moner) for her most dangerous adventure ever – High School. Always the explorer, Dora quickly finds herself leading Boots (her best friend, a monkey), Diego (Jeffrey Wahlberg), a mysterious jungle inhabitant (Eugenio Derbez), and a ragtag group of teens on a live-action adventure to save her parents (Eva Longoria, Michael Peña) and solve the impossible mystery behind a lost city of gold.

Catch Dora and the Lost City of Gold when it hits theaters Aug. 9.
