Netflix Featurette Explores How Black Mirror: Bandersnatch Came to Be

Everyone thought Black Mirror: Bandersnatch was just going to be another dark episode from the series, but everyone was floored at the return of the modern choose-your-own-adventure direction it went. Just in, Netflix has released a behind-the-scenes featurette showcasing the work that went into constructing the episode.

With all the flowcharts coming out to chart the different outcomes of Bandersnatch, I was half-expecting Netflix to release an official list. But I also like hearing the story of how they started with kids' interactive shows and then tried to adapt it to an adult experience.

Personally, though I loved my first viewing, I found it kind of exhausting having to sift through all the different timelines just to see what happens. Sure Bandersnatch still gives you opportunities to go back and try again, but some choices are so complicated that it's a real hassle to revisit entire plotlines just to see the difference that one choice makes.

I don't hope this becomes a big fad in the future because I'm sure these multiple ending shows are more hassle to make than they are to watch. I have to hand it Black Mirror though for finding the best storyline to keep the players involved with the character, having us supposedly play the game that Colin's daughter was developing in the end.

In 1984, a young programmer begins to question reality as he adapts a sprawling fantasy novel into a video game and soon faces a mind-mangling challenge.

Catch Black Mirror: Bandersnatch now on Netflix.
