Marvel Head Kevin Feige Hints at Wanda Maximoff's Mutant Origin

When it comes to the MCU, one point of discussion that fans are frequently entering is the introduction of Mutants and the X-Men. While we have no official idea how Marvel will pull it off, there are guesses that it will have something to do with WandaVision's Wanda Maximoff; what's interesting is, Marvel head Kevin Feige may have hinted at the mutant nature of Wanda's power.

While some think that Wanda's powers come from the Mind Stone, Feige implies that the Stone merely unlocked what she already had—meaning the powers are of a mutant nature. Feige tells Empire:

"If you look at the Infinity Saga, I don't think any single person has gone through more pain and trauma than Wanda Maximoff. And no character seems to be as powerful as Wanda Maximoff. And no character has a power-set that is as ill-defined and unexplored as Wanda Maximoff… So it seemed to explore that would be worthwhile post-Endgame. Who else is aware of that power? Where did it come from? Did the Mind Stone unlock it?"

Feige's wording is key to the mutant theory. As I said, saying that the Mind Stone ‘unlocked' the power rather than it being the actual source could very well imply that Wanda is a mutant. With the introduction of mutants marking a major milestone for the MCU, a lot of people are wondering how Marvel plans to pull it off.

You can read all my possible theories here.

In the meantime, you can catch Wanda in WandaVision which comes out on January 15, 2021.
