LeBron James Sports the New Tune Squad Jersey in First Look for Space Jam: A New Legacy

WB had announced development on the Space Jam sequel back in 2014, and though we know LeBron James had been cast as the new lead, updates for the movie have been scarce. What's great is, we finally have a first look at LeBron in the movie, and he's sporting the new Tune Squad uniform.

Check it out:

This also comes with the official reveal of the title Space Jam: A New Legacy, which kind of confirms that this will be a reboot/sequel compared to the first film. We don't really know what the story will be specifically, but it's likely it will follow the beats of the first movie, with the Looney Tunes asking LeBron to play a high-stakes basketball game with them. I also have no doubt there's going to be some meta-commentary on the Tunes' part.

I don't know if this is just the nostalgia speaking, but I kind of prefer the more classic look of the Tune Squad jersey from the first movie. I mean, the colors look fine with the new uniform, but I think the design is kind of off. Then again, that's just me. It's possible it will look better once we get our first teaser for the movie.

We don't know when WB will release the first official teaser for the film, but with this first look dropping now, I have a feeling we're going to get it sometime before the year ends. Here's hoping we don't have to wait too long.

Space Jam: A New Legacy is set to hit theaters on July 16, 2021.
