Katee Sackhoff on Why Bo-Katan Needs the Darksaber in The Mandalorian

Ever since last week's episode of The Mandalorian, Star Wars fans can't stop talking about Katee Sackhoff's live-action Bo Katan. With Bo on the hunt for the Darksaber —which is in the hands of Moff Gideon—Sackhoff talks a bit about her arc for this season and why she's so bent on finding the ancient weapon.

Talking to Deadline, Sackhoff explained:

"For Bo-Katan, the Darksaber represents so much, there's so much lore about it, but at the same time, it's in her mind and based on history; it's the way to bring together the people of Mandalore and the way to rule and respect that is by earning it."

We don't really know how Gideon came into the possession of the Darksaber, but it's possible that it could have something he procured during "The Great Purge." Since Bo was the last person in possession of it before Gideon, I think it could be assumed that he took it from her.

Sackhoff continues, "She's a warrior and she has struggled tremendously with being a leader. For her, I think there is a struggle and a story about who she becomes in peace, if that were to ever be accomplished and what kind of ruler she would be. She's never really, that we've seen, gotten that opportunity, and whether or not she's ready for that. Just because she thinks it's her rightful place, doesn't mean she's ready or equipped to rule Mandalore."

For now, it's unclear when Bo-Katan will make a return in the season, but seeing as she's also on the hunt for Gideon, it would make sense for her to run into Din Djarin again sometime down the line. Seeing that she also has a side of the Mandalorian culture to tell, it would be interesting to see what kind of lessons Din could get from her.
