Joker Wins 2 Out of 11 Nominations at the 2020 Academy Awards

Joker is a film that's been mired with controversy, and it seems that the more the film succeeds, the more outraged people have become on Twitter. Now cinephiles online will have more to rant about as Joker has won 2 Oscars at the 2020 Academy Awards.

Joaquin Phoenix had won an Oscar for Best Actor with composer Hildur Guðnadóttir winning Best Achievement in Music. Other nominations that Joker got that it didn't win include Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Make-Up and Hairstyling, Best Editing, Best Sound Mixing, and Best Sound Editing.

I have to say, despite all the hate that seems to follow the movie around, it's been doing nothing but win. Besides the Oscars, the movie had also won at the Golden Globes, the BAFTAs, and the SAGAs.

Personally, I thought the movie was alright. I mean, it's not as great as The Dark Knight, but it is a nice step forward into bringing more variety to comic book films. I mean, if anything, the movie is actually a character study masquerading as a comic book movie. I guess Hollywood has to try something to get people to watch movies that don't have explosions in it every 20 minutes.

Forever alone in a crowd, failed comedian Arthur Fleck seeks connection as he walks the streets of Gotham City. Arthur wears two masks -- the one he paints for his day job as a clown, and the guise he projects in a futile attempt to feel like he's part of the world around him. Isolated, bullied and disregarded by society, Fleck begins a slow descent into madness as he transforms into the criminal mastermind known as the Joker.

Joker is now available on home video.
