Jennifer Aniston Blames Marvel Movies for Lack of Quality Films for Actors

Filmmaker Martin Scorsese has set the internet aflame with his comments on Marvel films not being ‘cinema', and now Friends star Jennifer Aniston is jumping in and blaming the MCU for lack of quality films.

Talking to Variety about her return to television, Aniston explains:

"It wasn't until the last couple of years when these streaming services were just sort of exploding with this amount of quality that I actually started to think, ‘Wow, that's better than what I just did,'… And then you're seeing what's available out there and it's just diminishing and diminishing in terms of, it's big Marvel movies. Or things that I'm not just asked to do or really that interested in living in a green screen."

Aniston says that she wishes for the "era of Meg Ryan" to come back with smaller mid-budget films, but for now, it looks like she doesn't have any solid answer on how to counter the blockbusters monopolizing theaters.

If you ask me, big blockbuster films aren't really the only thing to blame when it comes to mid-budget movies hitting cinemas. If anything, it's also the rise of the streaming services which have taken away smaller films from the big screen and have brought them straight to the viewers' homes. It's like the stigma now is to catch these smaller, personal movies on TV, and shell out cash for the visually dazzling blockbusters which demand to be on a big screen.

Then again, that's just my analysis. I'm not against smaller movies in theaters at all, but I don't think it's the big blockbusters that are solely to blame for the diminishing film opportunities for actors.

Guess no one told Jennifer Aniston life was gonna be this way.
