James Gunn Confirms Sylvester Stallone is in The Suicide Squad

Sylvester Stallone had worked with James Gunn in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 by playing the small role of Starhawk, and it looks like he isn't done working with the director. Just in, Gunn has revealed that Stallone actually has a part to play in his upcoming DC entry, The Suicide Squad.

Here's Gunn's post:

We don't know who Sly could be playing in the film, but looking at the background, I can suspect that he's going to be some kind of bartender in some small scene in the film. Until the movie comes out, all we can really do is guess, and with the pandemic going on, we might just have to wait a little longer before The Suicide Squad hits theaters.

Besides Stallone, the movie also has some other Guardians of the Galaxy veterans including frequent Gunn collaborator Michael Rooker (Yondu), Steve Agee (Gef the Ravager), and Sean Gunn (Rocket Raccoon). Other huge stars that are in the film include Taika Waititi, John Cena, Idris Elba, Nathan Fillion, Viola Davis, Peter Capaldi, and Margot Robbie.

No plot details have been revealed for The Suicide Squad, but fans are hoping Gunn has a different premise than ‘gang of misfits team up to fight for the greater good'. If anything, they're hoping that it will be a lot closer to his darker, much earlier film Super starring Rain Wilson and Ellen Page; it's still a superhero film, but filled with gore and great one-liners like, "Shut-up, Crime!"

The Suicide Squad is set to hit theaters on Aug. 6, 2021.
