Director James Gunn has managed to amass an amazing cast for The Suicide Squad, and one character that everyone is excited to see is Peacemaker played by John Cena. Though the movie isn't out yet, it looks like we're going to be seeing more of Cena's character, as Gunn has announced an HBO Max series centered on him.

Check it out:

We don't know at what place in the DCEU timeline the series is, but it could very well happen after the events of The Suicide Squad. With the mortality of every character kind of up in the air, it's likely this is confirmation that Peacemaker is going to make it out alive. Then again, it's possible it could be a prequel and we could watch Peacemaker's story before he gets hired by Amanda Waller.

This Peacmaker series kind of means a lot when it comes to the DCEU's relationship with HBO Max. Besides the release of Zack Snyder's Justice League, this could mean that DC is planning several spinoffs that would take place in the main DCEU timeline. Maybe this could be our hope for Ben Affleck returning as Batman while not taking the spotlight from Robert Pattinson.

Personally, this just makes me more excited for The Suicide Squad. They must have really liked Cena's character if they're willing to make a spinoff series based on him. Hopefully they don't disappoint when the movie finally comes out.
