It’s Humans vs. Androids in New Trailer for Ridley Scott’s Raised by Wolves

While not all of his films have been critical hits recently, Ridley Scott is still a visionary director, and it looks like he's going to be delving into some sci-fi roots with his HBO Max series, Raised by Wolves. Just in, we have a fantastic new trailer, and it gives us some better insight on the overall story involving the androids and the humans.

Two androids are tasked with raising human children on a mysterious virgin planet. As the burgeoning colony of humans threatens to be torn apart by religious differences, the androids learn that controlling the beliefs of humans is a treacherous and difficult task.

While the first trailer for the show was kind of vague when it came to the plot, this preview is a lot more straightforward when it comes to the mission of the androids and the purpose of the antagonist in the form of Travis Fimmel (Ragnar Lothbrok from Vikings).

I have to say, the aesthetic of the movie is fantastic. It's a clear nod to old sci-fi movies and the minimal design mixed with modern filmmaking gives us a very unique-looking series that feels both nostalgic but new. If anything, I think this is also another attempt at Scott trying to ‘answer big questions' with the sci-fi genre. He kind of stumbled on it with Prometheus, but without the expectations to build a franchise, I think Scott has a lot more creative freedom when it comes to this project.

Catch Raised by Wolves when it hits HBO Max Sept. 3.
