Han Solo: Here's The Advice Donald Glover Got From Billy Dee Williams On Playing Lando

Earlier this year, there were reports of Donald Glover meeting up with Billy Dee Williams to discuss the role of Lando Calrissian. There were no details on what the two ended up talking about, but thanks to an interview with THR, Glover has finally opened up about what he learned from the veteran actor.

Glover was throwing his ideas around, and trying to see what he could bring to the role of Lando. He says:

"I was like, 'I've always felt like this character could do this, and he represents this, and I kind of feel like he comes from here, and it's very obvious he has a lot of taste, so maybe he grew up seeing that from afar? Because I'm like that. Maybe he saw it from other planets and was like, 'I want to be that.' "

Williams, however, didn't put that much thought into playing Lando at all. Glover continues:

"He just let me ramble on and on, and then finally I was like, 'So, what do you think?' And he goes, 'Yeah, I don't know about all that. Just be charming.' "

Though some may see the role of Lando Calrissian one of the most iconic in Star Wars, you can't help but admit that Billy Dee Williams just played the character for what it was—a charming rogue who's friends with Han Solo.

With the Han Solo spinoff, you can expect more character to be explored with Lando, but as it looks now, the character will be entirely up to Glover to flesh out. I'm just excited to see how exactly Han won the Falcon from Lando.
