First BTS Look at Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, and Kate Winslet in the Avatar Sequels

Avatar is set to come back to the box office next year, and promotion for the film has been going slow and steady. What's interesting is, we have a look at the returning cast members Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington, along with new faces to the franchise Kate Winslet and Cliff Curtis.

Check it out:

While we don't get a look at their characters, I think that this is confirmation that both Winslet and Curtis are playing CGI characters as well. Winslet's character is named Ronal in the movie, while Curtis is playing a character named Tonowari. This is just my guess, but I think both Ronal and Tonowari are leaders of a water tribe in Pandora, and the scenes involving Neytiri and Jake Sully will have something to do with the actual leads—their kids.

I have to say, it's very curious how shooting underwater is going to work for a CG film. While I understand it will make the movement more realistic, I'm curious if there's anything else shooting in a actual giant tank is going to provide. Hopefully we get some kind of documentary on how the whole thing will be made, because with every great movie comes a great story about how everything came together.

We don't know when we'll get our first look at Avatar 2, hopefully 20th Century Studios releases something this July during SDCC 2020 (which will happen online now).

The first Avatar sequel is set to hit theaters on Dec. 17, 2021.
