Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley were once in line to direct the Flash movie for the DCEU, but have since dropped the film with IT's Andy Muschietti set to take over. The good news for the pair is, they might as well have found their new gig.
According to Variety, Daley and Goldstein are currently in negotiations to direct the Dungeons & Dragons movie for Hasbro. We don't have an idea for the story yet, but Michael Gillio is said to provide the script with Brian Goldner and Stephen Davis attached as producers.
Originally, the film was going to be directed by LEGO Batman director Chris McKay, but he's since dropped out to work on Ghost Draft with Chris Pratt. Hopefully, Daley and Goldstein will manage to stick to this project this time around.
As of now, the pair have only worked on comedy movies like Vacation and Game Night, so I'm not sure how they're going to handle something like Dungeons & Dragons. I guess the closest they've got to fantasy is that they wrote Spider-Man: Homecoming, but even then the connection to the genre is kind of loose.
Who knows, maybe they'll be able to make Dungeons & Dragons a fun movie. I think it all depends on the treatment. I think the game has gotten a raise in interest thanks to Stranger Things, and Daley himself had played a D&D enthusiast in Freaks and Geeks.
No release date has been officially announced for Hasbro's Dungeons & Dragons film.
