Emma Watson in Line for 2nd Female Lead of Black Widow

After 10 years of the MCU, Marvel Studios is finally moving forward with a Black Widow film. The movie is said to feature a second female lead alongside Scarlett Johansson, and it looks like Harry Potter star Emma Watson may actually get the role.

According to That Hashtag Show, Watson is currently on the top of the list to play a character described as a "kick-ass female Bond." We don't know which role she will be playing specifically, but the studio is said to be looking for someone who has a similar screen presence as Johansson.

Besides Watson, actresses Alice Englert and Dar Zuzovsky have auditioned for the role. Florence Pugh is also said to be in the running—interesting since she's set to co-star with Watson in the film Little Women.

We don't know who this second female lead is set to be, but I have a feeling that she will also come from the same institute where our Natasha Romanoff was processed. There were actually multiple Widow's in the comics but Yelena Belova is the only other Widow that was a spy. Belova is notably blonde in the comics, so maybe we can see her form a friendship with Widow in this film—maybe it may also explain why Natasha goes blonde in Infinity War.

For now, the furthest film we have in the MCU timeline is Spider-Man: Far from Home which comes out this July. We know that more Marvel films are coming out next year, but the studio has not made an official announcement as to what those movies will be. It's a good guess that Black Widow will be one of them, but we aren't really sure as of now.

No release date has been set for Black Widow.
