Avengers Game has Lost 96% of its Players Since Launch

With the game coming from a famous studio known for AAA titles and based on a multi-billion-dollar IP, a lot of people thought that Square Enix's Avengers: A-Day was going to be a massive hit, but now it looks like the title is coming out as one of the biggest video game blunders of the year. Just in, word has come out that the game has already lost a staggering amount of its player base.

As pointed out by GameByte, Avengers players on PC has gone down to 1,190 players online—that's 96% less than when the game launched in September. As of now, the game is averaging players around 752.

To be fair, this number is still not considering the players on consoles like the PS4 and Xbox One, but it's very likely that they could be just as dismal, counting that the game has been frequently bashed for being boring and not having enough content to keep players engaged. The studio was said to have lost millions thanks to this game, a huge failure counting that the game should have been an easy win, counting on the IP that it's based on.

If anything, there is still hope for Crystal Dynamics to get this game fixed in the future. A lot of DLC characters—including Spider-Man—are set to come to Avengers next year, and maybe by then the devs could add some more interesting expansions to the game. If Star Wars Battlefront II was able to salvage one of the most terrible launches in gaming, maybe Square Enix can pull off the same miracle. Only time will tell.

In the meantime, Square Enix's Avengers game is now playable for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, and PS5.
