Ahsoka Actress Rosario Dawson Addresses Anti-Trans Lawsuit Against Her

Transphobia has become a real issue with cancel culture and celebrities like Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling have been getting waves of backlash online for her stances. Another actress who has been accused of transphobia is The Mandalorian actress Rosario Dawson, and she comes out to address the lawsuit against her.

Talking to Vanity Fair, Dawson was asked about a lawsuit that was filed against her, claiming that she had an anti-trans bias. Dawson explained:

"Well, firstly, I just want to say I understand that, and why people were concerned, and are concerned. I would be too if I heard some of those claims. But I mean, as we're seeing right now in these past months, and just recently, actually, the truth is coming out. Every single claim of discrimination has been dismissed by the person who made them, and as you've said, the fact that this is coming from someone I've known since I was a teenager, the better part of my life, and who my family was trying to help as we have many times in the past, it really just makes me sad. But I still have great empathy for him."

Though 18 out of the 20 accusations have been withdrawn without a settlement, some people are still convinced of Dawson's status as a transphobe. With some saying that this is just a sample of wealthy people using the system to their benefit, Dawson continues:

"The reason that all of the discrimination claims were dropped is that they didn't happen. I was raised in a very inclusive and loving way, and that's how I've lived my entire life. I've always used my voice to fight for, lift, and empower the LGBTQA community, and use my platform to channel trans voices, in fiction and nonfiction work that I've produced and directed. So I feel the record is really clear."

Personally, I do have a bias since I'm a huge fan of Dawson's since Clerks II, but I am waiting for more information to come out on the case. If the cases did get dropped though, I think there could be some truth to what Dawson is saying.

With Gina Carano getting canceled for her pro-Trump, anti-mask support online, I would hate for the live-action face of Ahsoka to get canceled so soon after her debut.

Though we don't know when Ahsoka comes back, you can catch The Mandalorian Season 2 now on Disney+.
