After Baby Yoda, Babu Frik is Getting His Own Adorable Plushie

While Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was poorly received, it still manages to have some stand out elements, one of which is the droidsmith Babu Frik. With Baby Yoda driving fans crazy with his mechanical plushie, it looks like Babu is going to be the next in line for that sweet merchandising.

Here's the description as well:

Hey heeeeeeeey! Say hello to Babu Frik. We first met the tiny and efficient alien, capable of modifying nearly any droid, in a pivotal moment in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The Resistance was on its heels, and only C-3PO, with the help of his new friend, could access the information they needed to save the mission.

Soon you'll be able to get your hands on your own version of the diminutive droidsmith, when Mattel releases a new talking plush sculpted to capture the essence of the character and featuring six voice clips from the film, including his whoop of delight and formal introduction — "Hello, I Babu Frik."

Admittedly, this one looks to be geared more toward children, so there really isn't that much detail on the doll for adult collectors to fawn over. If anything, it does come with some great elements that open up for the possibility of customization, and I'm sure some creative prop-builders can tweak the doll to look closer to the screen-used puppet.

Personally, I think mechanical Baby Yoda is still more impressive. While this Babu does come with voice lines, it looks like it won't be able to move or emote like the Baby Yoda plushie. Hopefully, we get something like that down the line, but for now, this doll probably the best that Babu fans can get.

The next big Star Wars property, The Mandalorian, is set to hit Disney+ on Oct. 30.
