If you've watched Aquatope on White Sand since day 1 hoping things would pick up, Episode 4 was particularly rewarding! On top of the breathtaking animation, the relationship between the two main characters is developing beautifully, and the cliffhanger in the post-credit got me.

The slice-of-life anime has been off to a strong start, and we expect it to get even better moving forward, now that we know a bit about each of the main characters.

Did the latest episode get you worried about Fuuka? Keep reading! Below you'll find our handy guide to Shiroi Suna no Aquatope Episode 5, including a recap of Episode 4, the show's release date and time, and more!

Aquatope on White Sand Episode 4Recap

Aquatope on White Sand is the story of Kukuru Misakino, who works as the director of her grandparents' aquarium during the holidays; and Fuuka Miyazawa, who ends up working in the aquarium after failing as an idol.

If you haven't watched Aquatope on White Sand Episode 4, you might want to do so before proceeding. Expect some spoilers below:

Kukuru decides to have an open day, in which children are allowed to touch some of the aquarium's animals. Her enthusiasm is contagious, so Fuuka soon decides to be an attendant, supervising the visiting children and answering their questions.

As Fuuka grows into her new role, however, her past comes to haunt her; some visitors recognize her as a former idol and harass her, taking pictures without her consent. Thankfully, her colleagues come to her rescue, calling out the visitors on their behavior and giving Fuuka a much-needed break.

Kukuru apologizes, fearing she might have pressured Fuuka into accepting a front-facing role she wasn't ready for, but Fuuka assures her that she really wanted the role, and hoped that they could come closer through it. It's a bit early to tell if this friendship is going down a more romantic path, but the tenderness in their interaction is unmistakable and, personally, I'd love it if this turned into a well-done shojo ai.

Fuuka thanks her colleagues for their support and tells them the truth about her former life as an idol. It turns out that some of them had already figured it out, and they all happily accept her as part of their team.

In the post-credit scene, Fuuka, who is now fully enjoying her new life with Kukuru, is shocked to find out that her mother is in Okinawa, presumably to take her home.
