Alec Baldwin Drops Out of Joker Movie

A few days ago, it was reported that Alec Baldwin had been cast as Thomas Wayne in Todd Phillips' Joker movie, but now news has it that he's left the project.

Baldwin tells USA Today that he had to leave the role due to scheduling issues. He is, however, positive that someone else could fill in. He says, "I'm sure there are 25 guys who can play that part."

Baldwin also addresses the rumors that his version of Wayne was supposed to be some kind of Donald Trump parody, to which he posts on Twitter:

Surely a lot of people thought that Baldwin was perfect for the part. Besides making a convincing rich guy onscreen, he also has that gravelly voice that is so typical Batman. It's a shame that he had to leave the project, but like he said, there are a lot of actors who would be able to fill in the role.

Besides Baldwin, it was said that Lord of the Rings vet Viggo Mortensen was also approached for a role, but he ultimately passed. What's more, Wayne Manor is said to be a location in the film. What are the chances that we're going to meet a young Bruce Wayne? I'd even be happy just seeing Alfred.

Todd Phillips' Joker stars Joaquin Phoenix, Zazie Beetz, Robert De Niro, and Marc Maron; the film is set to come out Oct. 4, 2019.
