Alden Ehrenreich Says Solo: A Star Wars Story Is About Han Chasing A Dream

It certainly is an interesting week for Star Wars fans. Lucasfilm's just officially launched Solo: A Star Wars Story's marketing campaign with a couple of new previews for the Star Wars spinoff and now fans get to learn more about Alden Ehrenreich's take on everyone's favorite smuggler.

Entertainment Weekly just recently had Solo as its cover story and the publication sat down to speak with Ehrenreich about his role as Star Wars new young Han Solo. Though the actor can't give any specifics, Ehrenreich says Solo's tells the story of how Han struggles to pursue his dream to "get out of his pretty rough upbringing."

"A lot of the story is him trying to make this dream come true and finding out that it's a lot harder than he had imagined" the Solo star explains.

The actor is also asked about other aspects of Han's dream, and apparently, it involves a lot of independence for Han.

"I can't say exactly, but it definitely involves independence, and calling your own shots. I thought the Kasdans did a wonderful job of kind of retroactively coming up with what kind of background would lead him to becoming the character we all know," Ehrenreich says.

It all sounds a lot like a coming-of-age story for young Han Solo. We wonder what kind of shackles we're going to find the smuggler when Solo: A Star Wars Story premieres on May 25, 2018.
