Star Wars actress Kelly Marie Tran may have failed to hit the mark with fans in the polarizing sequel trilogy but her involvement in Disney's recent animated flick Raya and the Last Dragon somewhat became her redemption arc in Hollywood and it pretty much proved that she belongs in any franchise including the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Apparently, the idea of her joining the billion-dollar franchise is something that is on Tran's checklist and she's determined to fulfill that goal.

In a recent interview with ComicBookMovie along with director Carlos López Estrada to promote their latest collaboration Summertime, Tran expressed her desire to become part of the MCU and she's even willing to team up with Estrada once again if given the opportunity.

Estrada says: "I'm going to answer for her and say I hope she's part of it! For me, as a director, I have been very inspired by all the movies and people I've gotten a chance to work with, including the Summertime poets and Kelly. I [will] do everything within my power to continue working on projects that I can be equally as inspired by whether it's 'Summertime 2: The Return of Summertime' or a Marvel thing, I think I'm just going to have to follow my gut and try to surround myself with people I find as inspiring as Kelly Marie Tran."

In response to Carlos' kind words, Kelly Marie said that she's down with the idea of joining another huge media franchise. "I agree. I have a similar way of looking at my career where it's really... I just want to surprise myself. I just want to do things I didn't think I could do. I didn't think I could be in Star Wars and I didn't think I could be in Raya and doing things I thought were impossible have been a really big impetus for me and I want to keep doing that. So, whatever that is, let those things come and I'm excited to continue doing impossible things with Carlos López Estrada."

To be fair, Kelly Marie's failure to click with Star Wars fans didn't have anything to do with her ability to act or her overall persona. It's just that Rose Tico was one of many poorly written characters in the sequel trilogy. Now, as for her potential crossover to the MCU, I strongly believe that the door is always open for her to join the franchise especially now that Marvel Studios is championing diversity and Asian representation. I'm sure it's only a matter of time.

Speaking of, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will hit cinemas on September 3, 2021.
