With Horimiya's success, it is not surprising that the demand for a second season is high. But is it enough for the creators to produce a Horimiya Season 2? Here's what we think!

Horimiya Is a Standout School Romance Anime

Horimiya or Hori-san to Miyamura-kun is a web manga by Hiroki Adachi. It was self-published on her website called Dokkai Ahen from 2007 up to 2011.

Daisuke Hagiwara decided to adapt the manga with the title Horimiya. The adapted manga was serialized in Monthly G Fantasy with an English version released by Yen Press.

It was eventually adapted into an anime by CloverWorks in January 2021.

With its popularity, a live-action and even a TV drama were released in the same year.

Horimiya follows Kyouko Hori and Izumi Miyamura. Hori is a popular and smart girl while Miyamura is an introverted guy who is usually outcasted by his classmates.

They are in the same class, but given their different "social" status, they barely interact at all.

Things changed when Miyamura came to Hori’s house one day with her brother.

The two of them discovered that they have different personalities in school and outside school.

Hori dresses down, unlike her usual look at school, and does household chores for her family while Miyamura has a punk style and adventurous life.

After discovering their secret personalities, the two became close until they developed feelings for each other.

The series also showcases their relationships with friends and other classmates in school.

Miyamura’s past was explained in the series and it gave viewers a look into what happens to kids who are left out or ignored in school.

Will Horimiya Get a Season 2? Our Predictions

Horimiya Season 2 might not be possible considering that the show was not renewed for a sequel.

Moreover, the first season already covered all the main points in the manga until the last chapter.

Since there is no more source material to adapt, the chance of having a second season is slim.

Instead of a second season, Horimiya received a spinoff anime titled Horimiya: The Missing Pieces that showed the unadapted parts of the manga.

It gave fans a chance to see all their favorite scenes from the manga animated.

Anime-only fans also witnessed Hori and Miyamura's relationship with their friends and the other characters' stories.

So, even if Horimiya didn't get a second season, a spinoff is still a great watch for fans of the romcom anime.

Could There Be More Horimiya Content in the Future?

It is unsure whether fans will receive more Horimiya content in the future.

If we're looking on the bright side, chances are, fans will get an anime-original sequel that will tell the story between Hori and Miyamura after they graduate from high school.

In most anime series, fans often receive OVAs, specials, or even films to keep their interest.

It will not come as a surprise if the Horimiya creators announce one of these to give fans a huge treat after the completion of Horimiya: The Missing Pieces.

Perhaps we will also get a movie sequel with an original story, but for now, we'll never know.
