Fan-Made ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ Posters Suggest Dark Version of the Film

As 2016 rolls on, the release of Rogue One: A Star WarsStory also looms near. However, we haven’t had any footage from filming until now. The movie started production in August 2015, but Disney and Lucasfilm haven’t released any new details about the film as well.

What we do know though is that the film will take place in between the Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. The plot will revolve around “a band of resistance fighters unite for a daring mission to steal the Death Star plans.”

There have been rumors though that say a more ruthless Darth Vader will appear in the film.

Since these rumors remain unfounded and because of the lack of footage and info on Rogue One: A Star WarsStory, self-proclaimed die-hard Star Wars fan Ryan Craindecided to create some posters suggesting a darker Rogue One.

The posters are seen on the website Movie Pilotand Crain designed the posters with help in design photography from Mark Edwards.

Crain wants the upcoming Star Wars film to be darker, with Vader “truly evil and mercy less.” This is manifested in the bloody hues he chose for the Sith Lord’s poster. While Crain referred to Deadpool as possibly paving the way for a more “gritty” Rogue One, I think “darker” wouldn’t necessarily depict a better movie.

It would be interesting to see a more sinister version of Darth Vader in the film, but I think we already know how evil he is from the get-go. Focusing on a “darker” Darth Vader and film in general might have the film losing focus on the “adventure” part of the movie.

Directed by Gareth Edwards, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is slated for release on December 16.
