Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba centers on Tanjiro Kamado’s journey in defeating Muzan Kibutsuji, the Demon King. Tanjiro’s goal started when Muzan slaughtered most of the Kamado family and even turned Tanjiro’s sister, Nezuko, into a demon. From then, Tanjiro joined the Demon Slayer corps and finds himself defeating various powerful demons.
Just by purely comparing Tanjiro with Muzan and the other demons, fans might have the impression that he won’t survive. After all, he is still a human being and Muzan is almost immortal. There were a lot of scenes when Tanjiro almost died from other demons, what more could happen if he is facing Muzan? How can a teenage boy defeat a thousand-year-old demon? What are his chances?
Did Tanjiro Die?
The most-awaited interaction in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is the “Sunrise Countdown Arc”. In this arc, the Demon Slayers come face to face with Muzan. It was a long and hard battle with the Demon Slayers injured and almost at their peak. Tanjiro and the remaining Demon Slayers were able to keep Muzan at bay and they are just waiting for the sunlight to come.
What they did not expect that Muzan turned Tanjiro into a demon! It was the last strategy prepared by the antagonist to get away from the scene. It could be said that Tanjiro did die in this aspect but since Nezuko, who was a demon before, can turn back into a human again, it could mean that Tanjiro did not entirely die.
What fans are sure of is that Tanjiro died many years later of old age. This can be seen in Chapter 205, which is a time skip after the last battle. Tanjiro marries Kanao, and they had a beautiful life together. The final chapter also emphasizes that there are successors who look like Tanjiro and the rest of the main characters.
The demon reign is also over and everyone seemed to be in a peaceful mood. Manga fans enjoyed seeing their favorite characters once again in this chapter, especially the ones who died during the last battle.
