Zachary Quinto: 'No Guarantee' That Star Trek 4 Will Happen

Though Star Trek Beyond did well with critics and audiences, the head honchos at Paramount still think that the movie had underperformed, and it may be a while till we get the next installment in the franchise. Talking to Today, Spock actor Zachary Quinto gives us an update on Star Trek 4, and it looks like the movie's fate is still kind of murky.

He says:

I know that they are working on a script for another one and we'll see how that all plays out, but the nice thing about that experience is that the time in between those big tentpole films allows us to go off and cultivate a lot of different creative experiences for ourselves. … I'm hopeful that we'll do another one, but there's no guarantee.

As of now, the script is written by Quinto's co-star Simon Pegg (Scotty) who also wrote the screenplay for Star Trek Beyond. Apparently, the movie will be dealing with some sort of time travel, and will see the involvement of Kirk's father played by Chris Hemsworth.

I thought that Beyond was actually a pretty great movie, and it played out more like a classic Trek episode. Instead of watching things develop mainly between Kirk and Spock, we also got to see how the characters played off of one another like with Spock and McCoy as well as Kirk and Chekov.

Though the studio may be in no rush, I'm still very eager to see Star Trek 4 if it ever comes out. Hopefully when it does, it would be sooner rather than later.
