Pokemon celebrated its 20th anniversary recently with beloved childhood games RedBlue and Yellow. It even unveiled new games Sun and Moon. But while fans are eager to get their hands into these new games, many still haven’t caught, or even seen, the ever elusive Pokemon, Mew.

Well, hope isn’t lost. Apparently, Mew really does exist and players can catch the character in 9 easy steps.

GiantBoyDetectivehas revealed a detailed guideline on how to finally catch that Pokemon.

Note: These steps must be performed during first playthrough of the game as there’s no turning back after Cerulean City. If you’re already past that level, well sorry to say but you’ll have to reset your game.

Here are the steps:

1. Enter Cerulean City after walking out of the pile of Zubats that is Mt. Moon. Head for Nugget bridge to the north by using the Pokémon Center. Grab supplies from the mart especially Pokéballs. Reserve an empty slot in your roster. Like so:

2. Fight and everyone on Nugget bridge – people and your rival, then take a hard left.

3. A trainer will be visible in a strip of grass. Don’t get too close above or below that trainer (important but not necessary for now). Walk to his side until you see a wild Abra. Capture it. They only have one attack (teleportation), so you might need to huck Pokéballs at the Abra until one sticks.

“Note: You may not be able to find an Abra in Yellow in the same spot. Check Route 5, below Cerulean City, if possible.”

4. After capturing the Abra, head to your right towards Route 24. Beat every trainer except one labeled with a FOUR. Go to the bottom where he won’t see you. Like so:

5. After defeating everyone on Route 24, use Abra to teleport to the Pokémon center in Cerulean City. Heal the monsters then go back to the guy standing on the left of the bridge in the grass.

Save your game.

6. THE HARD PART:

Stand diagonal from the corner jutting above the grassy strip so you’re above the trainer now. Don’t let him to notice you.

Press down and start at the same time then you’ll see the trainer looking at you. While on the pause menu, pick Abra then teleport to the Pokémon center.

You did it right when you see the trainer with an “!” above his head.

7. At the Pokémon center, head to the bridge and to Route 24 with the youngster you skipped. Don’t let him see you while approaching him. Just walk to the north most wall until he notices you and battles you. Defeat him then teleport back to the Pokémon center. Walk back to the bridge and start walking across it. Like so:

8. Walking across Nugget Bridge. Unpause, then Ta-dah!...you’ll see Mew!

Finally! Now you can catch ‘em all – at least in Red, Yellow, and Blue.
