Xbox Series X Can Play Xbox Games From All Generations

Xbox Series X might be a dumb name but Microsoft has basically ensured a huge number of buyers by announcing that the console will be compatible with every Xbox game ever. Well, almost every Xbox generation. It's a very good use of backward-compatibility and will make fans who kept all of their older games happy, while others kick themselves for selling their games, even if they needed money.

On a blog post by Xbox boss Phil Spencer, he revealed that every backward-compatible game on Xbox and Xbox 360 that's playable on Xbox One will be playable on Xbox Series X. Oddly enough, Microsoft is still compiling a list of Xbox One games that will be compatible with the next-generation console, though we at least know that Cyberpunk 2077 will be one of them.

Here's what Spencer had to say about the big next-gen gaming console:

Our commitment to compatibility means existing Xbox One games, including backward-compatible Xbox 360 and original Xbox games, look and play better than ever before. Your favorite games, including titles in Xbox Game Pass, benefit from steadier framerates, faster load times and improved resolution and visual fidelity – all with no developer work required. Your Xbox One gaming accessories also come forward with you.

The current list of Xbox 360 games on Xbox One, and now Xbox Series X, is quite big, from underrated games like Blue Dragon to hot messes like Too Human. It's also great knowing that the Xbox Game Pass will stay since it saves people a lot of money to play a number of great titles.

Xbox Series X will be coming out on Holiday 2020.
