It's been a while since James Marsden played a superhero role. The actor stars in the upcoming movie Sonic the Hedgehog which is set for release next month, but is Marsden willing to return to the X-Men universe and potentially play another character?

Marsden played the role of Scott Summers a.k.a Cyclops in the 2000 X-Men movie as well as in X2: X-Men United which was released 3 years later. Unfortunately, his character was killed off by Famke Janssen's Jean Grey in X-Men: The Last Stand. Cyclops met his demise early on since the actor had limited availability when he joined X-Men and X2 director Bryan Singer to star in the DC movie, Superman Returns.

Marsden thinks it might be a little odd be he is willing to rejoin either Marvel or DC. "Sure, it might be weird to be one thing to sort of rejoin Marvel or rejoin DC or something like that," he told ComicBook. "But I would be open to it."

"I mean, that was a world I have great respect for and [I'm] very grateful to be a part of that family for a long period of time," Marsden continued. The actor sees it as one of the "special moments" in his career, which is why he would be "totally open" to return.

Of course, for now, Marsden has not revealed any plans of returning to Marvel nor DC, but fans of the actor could check out Sonic the Hedgehog where Marsden plays the role of Tom Wachowski.
