X-Men: Dark Phoenix May See Magneto’s Return

Updates on potential cast members for X-Men projects continue. This time, it involves one of the main characters in the franchise.

A new report care of MTV News' Josh Horowitz suggests that Michael Fassbender will be reprising his role as Magneto. The catch is that it won't be for both projects. Currently, there are two of them: X-Men: Dark Phoenix and X-Men: New Mutants. Fassbender will only be reportedly reprising his role for the former.

This follows an earlier report that James McAvoy won't reprise his role as Charles Xavier in the New Mutants project.

This brings the original duo of Charles and Eric back together. Given the title, Sophie Turner may also return as Jean Grey. Fans are still waiting for any updates of the other stars, following a lot of the younger X-Men members' introduction in X-Men: Apocalypse.

Another rumor about X-Men: Dark Phoenix is that the movie may bring the origin story—or at least a younger version—of Rogue, a mutant portrayed by Anna Paquin in earlier movies. We're seeing quite the movement in the X-Men franchise, a good recovery following the last movie's rather flop of a showcase and with Hugh Jackman finally trading his mutant life as Wolverine on camera following his last film for the role in Logan.

We'll know a little more once Horowitz releases his podcast regarding Fassbender's role sometime this week.
