X-Men: Apocalypse Taylor Swift Rumor Gets Debunked

Last week, Sophie Turner tweeteda shot from X-Men: Apocalypse showing her character, young Jean Grey, and Tye Sheridan's Cyclops in a record store. They were shown singling out Sounds of Light and Fur, an album of an artist named Dazzler's, who Turner claims is their favorite.

In the comics, Dazzler is known as a mutant with the ability of turning sound waves into light and energy, so rumors started circulating that the mutant could appear in the forthcoming film. However, a bigger rumor that circulated citing that pop star Taylor Swift could be the one to play the mutant, especially since Turner referenced Swift's 1989 in her tweet.

The possibility isn't hard to imagine. Both Swift and Dazzler are pop stars after all. Add to that fact is that several members of the X-Men Apocalypse cast and crew attended a Taylor Swift concert last year. A photo even popped up showing producer Simon Kinberg, Sophie Turner, and James McAvoy with Swift enjoying some back stage time with the 26-year-old singer.

Unfortunately, rumor killing site Gossip Cop has debunked the latter rumor once and for all in its latest report. According to the site, the rumor of a Taylor Swift cameo is "not true."

While the Dazzler album cover is an exact replica of the one in the comics, we can't help but imagine Swift portraying the mutant. The thought sure is fun and Swift has had previous appearances in TV series CSI and the film The Giver.

Who knows? Maybe fan clamor for Swift's appearance may create enough interest from Fox that they would consider Swift for the part, if there ever is one.
