X-Men: Apocalypse Beats Alice Through The Looking Glass in Box Office

Bryan Singer's X-Men: Apocalypse may not be as critically-acclaimed as X-Men: Days of Future Past, but it still emerged as the top film at the box office this weekend, beating Alice Through The Looking Glass.

The new X-Men film earned over $80 million over the four-day Memorial Day weekend, raising its global box office earnings to $265 million. But it didn't meet Fox's hope to match X-Men: Days of Future Past's Memorial Day earnings of $110 million.

Despite Apocalypse's performance to match its predecessor, Alice Through The Looking Glass didn't come close to the opening weekend of the first Alice film. Through The Looking Glass performed better overseas with $65 million, raising its global box office total to just under $100 million.

The Angry Birds film came in third, and fourth was Captain America: Civil War, which recently dethroned Deadpool to become the highest-grossing 2016 film at the domestic box office.
