X-Men and Avengers Writer Zak Penn Working on Another MCU Film

Zak Penn is a veteran writer for superhero films, and he's worked on titles like X-Men and MCU's The Incredible Hulk. Penn hasn't worked with Marvel Studios since The Avengers, but it looks like he's coming back for another MCU-based film.

Talking to ScreenRant, Penn says:

"I think I'm probably gonna come back. I think I'm gonna do one more Marvel, one more project in the Marvel Universe. I'm about to start doing, but…I have to check and see if I'm allowed to say what it is. For the most part I had a long run on comic book movies and I was kind of eager to, you know, just cause it can be really crushing, you know, at times…"

As of now, the latest project that Penn has finished is the adaptation of Ernest Cline's Ready Player One. Next to that, Penn is working on Suicide Squad 2 for Warner Bros. Seeing that Penn has a knack for writing ensemble movies, I'd guess that Marvel would want him back to revamp the X-Men or Fantastic Four for them. Besides that, I'd be happy to see another hero introduced. Maybe Marvel would want another jab at that Inhumans movie?

For now, we don't know when the MCU is planning on reintroducing the X-Men, but it may happen well after the release of Avengers 4. With a new era of Marvel heroes coming, the MCU has a lot of heroes they can pick from.

Avengers: Infinity War comes out April 27.
