There's been a lot of speculation surrounding Woody Harrelson's unnamed Han Solo character. Harrelson's supposedly playing a mentor to Alden Ehrenreich's Han Solo.
Before it was shot down, rumors had it that the Hollywood actor would be playing Garris Shrike, the bounty hunter who raised Han during the era of the Rise of the Empire in Star Wars Legends. Now Woody's revealed the exact name of his character.
Speaking on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote Lost in London, Harrelson's live-movie event, the Academy Award nominee decides to spill the beans about his character in Han Solo.
When asked about his role in the upcoming Star Wars spinoff movie, Harrelson replies:
"Yeah, I play a guy named Beckett who is kind of a criminal and a mentor to Han […] I'll be there until the end of July."
It's a short and quick reveal, but it does tell fans that Harrelson really isn't playing Garris indicating that the film may diverge a little from Han's backstory in Star Wars Legends. Beckett does sound a bit similar to Garris though – the Legends character used to be a bounty hunter who turned to crime taking in orphas for confidence tricks and thefts. Let's wait and see what more Lucasfilm has to say about the character during the Star Wars Celebration Orlando in April.
Han Solo premieres on May 25, 2018.
