Wonder Woman Director Discusses Whether Chris Pine Can Return In Film Sequel

Those who haven't seen Wonder Woman on the big screen are advised to head on out. This article contains major spoilers for the DC Extended Universe film installment.

All gone? Good. Now, those who've already seen Patty Jenkin's well-received Wonder Woman movie all know how the film ends quite tragically with Chris Pine's charismatic Steve Trevor sacrificing himself to stop Dr. Poison's hydrogen gas from killing thousands more in London while Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman deals with David Thewlis' Ares, the god of war.

With so much natural chemistry between the demi-goddess and the American spy, some fans have been wondering whether Jenkins and the DCEU could work up some magic to bring Steve back to life in Wonder Woman's potential sequel. Speaking in an interview with Fandango, Jenkins (who's already confirmed that she's likely to return to direct Wonder Woman 2) revealed that the team considers Steve Trevor's return a very big question.

"All I can say is it was a dilemma. It's something I hope we don't talk about in the public [because] I want people to see, but it's very hard to know which characters will be in the next movie because of the time period, so it's a big question."

With Jenkins planning Wonder Woman 2 to be set in modern day America, it could be possible that fans can get to see Steve in flashbacks and dream sequences. The studio could also work up a way to revive Steve – after all the comicbooks did have Steve Trevor come back to life through the power of Aphrodite. If the team does manage a smart way to pull off a revival in spite of the different time periods, fans would definitely appreciate the return of Steve.

Wonder Woman is currently screening in cinemas.
