Wonder Woman Director Already Has a Sequel Idea

Unless they have been planned, sequels can be a case of whether the original movie was successful the first time around. With Wonder Woman, director Patty Jenkins is showing just how much faith she has on the franchise.

Speaking with Toronto Sun, she shared an idea that she has brewing for the sequel even before the movie reaches theaters.

"I'm excited for her to come to America and become the Wonder Woman we are all familiar with from having grown up around her as an American superhero. I'd like to bring her a little farther along into the future and have a fun, exciting storyline that is its own thing. Wonder Woman 1 is so much about her becoming the person she is. I can't wait to spring forward with who she is and have another great standalone superhero film."

Of course, the bigger question is whether there will be a sequel to Wonder Woman. DC and Warner Bros. haven't made any official announcements as to the future of the movie. It's not impossible that the studio is still waiting to see how the first movie will fare. After all, DC has yet to really deliver a high-class superhero movie following what has already been a slew of mediocre to outright debatably bad movies.

So far, however, all hopes are pretty much brought up after early viewings and reactions to the movie. The trailers aren't really everything to go by, since we have to really see the Big Bad Ares in his terrible glory as Wonder Woman's foe.

And with all of the supposed values that she embodies and carries into the film, we're probably looking a quite the badass Amazonian to change the direction that DC films have been struggling with.

Wonder Woman will be out in theaters on June 2.
