It's official, DC fans. Wonder Woman 1984 will officially hit HBO Max later this year as previously speculated. Warner Bros. confirmed the news via social media and announced that for the first time ever, their film project will be released in both cinemas and the streaming service which debuted last May.
There's a catch though, WW1984 won't be staying in HBO Max for long as it's only expected to be part of the streaming service's catalog for a full month as the plan still calls for the film to have a major theatrical release should the coronavirus situation subside a couple of months from now.
Gal also shared the groundbreaking news via her official Instagram page. The actress wrote: "IT'S TIME. We've all waited a long time for this one to come. I can't tell you how excited I am for all of you to see this movie. It wasn't an easy decision and we never thought we'd have to hold onto the release for such a long time but Covid rocked all of our worlds. We feel the movie has never been so relevant and we hope that it'll bring some joy, hope, and love to your hearts. Wonder Woman 1984 is a special one for me and I can only hope it'll be as special to you too. We've put our hearts and souls into it. So... you can watch it IN THEATERS (they're doing an amazing job keeping it safe) and you can watch it on HBOMax from your homes. Sending you my love. Please keep safe and wear a mask. The entire COVID-19 situation has gravely affected the project's chances of doing great at the box office but I gotta say, it's also a smart move on WB's part to make the film available for streaming as it could totally help increase HBO Max's subscriber count. On the other hand, it's a huge bummer that our movie-going experience was ruined by the pandemic but hey, at least we won't have to wait longer to see Diana Prince back in action, right?
