The Ice Age franchise is arguably one of the most well-beloved among fans of animated films. It isn't just the movies anymore; characters like Sid, Manny, and Diego are parts of the childhood of those who grew up in the 2000s and not only. As is the case with Toy Story, Ice Age takes its time when it comes to new content. Yet, new content is what fans receive in the end, given that the latest Ice Age movie came 14 years after the first. So, will there be another Ice Age movie?

The story of a sloth, a mammoth, and a tiger, among others, who navigate the ruins of their world hasn't always been the most well-received by critics, but it does have a large number of fans and it delivered some genuine laughs back in the day. If you don't remember the hilarious Scrat and his love story with the acorn he chases across the ice, you probably didn't grow up during the 2000s.

That being said, Ice Age remains one of these franchises whereby no subsequent movie manages to surpass the first. The rest were fun, but progressively more lowly rated, with the fifth movie in the series considered unoriginal and not all that funny. By itself, this doesn't prove that Ice Age 6 would be bad, but it could potentially suggest that the creators have exhausted the material this setting and characters had to offer.

Despite these concerns, it appears that Ice Age 6 is official and about to become a reality quite soon. Ice Age: Adventures of Buck Wild has been announced on Disney Plus and even has a 2022 release date – though we don't know exactly when it's coming out.

So far, new Ice Age content could be expected roughly 3 to 4 years after the last movie, so it's the longest we've gone without. Hopefully, Adventures of Buck Wild will live up to fans' expectations.
