Will Han Solo: A Star Wars Story Be Featuring Han’s Homeworld Of Corellia?

Though not mentioned in the movies, longtime fans of Star Wars have known that Han Solo hails from Corellia, a planet known for manufacturing starships and the like. News has it that the spin-off movie may be taking the story to Corellia for the first time, but it could be a different place entirely.

According to Spanish publication La Provincia, production is currently underway in Fuerteventura, and they say that the location is being used for Han's homeworld. It only makes sense that Corellia would be featured in the movie since it is Han's origin story being told after all, but the same report also says that it's the same location where Han pulls off the infamous Kessel Run — which is a totally different place from Corellia.

Granted there's a new canon story for Star Wars, it's possible that the Kessel Run could totally be featured on Han's homeplanet, but since the whole debacle will be featured in space (I assume), shooting the Kessell Run could have very little to do with the location.

What's also interesting is that, in the original script for Star Wars, Han's whole story about doing the Run in less than 12 parsecs was supposed to be a lie to impress an old man and his farm boy companion. It's possible that the film could allude to this, but it might piss off some diehard fanboys — and it might as well make Han seem less impressive of a pilot.

Speaking of Corellia, it's also the same planet where X-Wing Pilot Wedge Antilles came from, and their people have "no use for the odds." It would be really nice to see the planet officially appearing in the movie, since it has such significance with the characters' backstories. Here's to hoping it does.

Han Solo: A Star Wars Story is set to come out May 25, 2018.
