In June 2022, fans of the Dragon Age RPG video game series rejoiced to find out that the fourth installment of the series has been confirmed and will be titled Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. But will Dragon Age 4 be on PS4 and Xbox One? Here's what we know so far:
Will Dragon Age 4 Be On PS4?
Given that the game is presumably quite early in production, it won't come out until 2023 at the latest if not even later, making Dragon Age 4 rather unlikely to be on PS4.
A few years after the successful release of Dragon Age: Inquisition - itself available on Playstation 3 and Playstation 4 amongst other platforms - Bioware started working on Dragon Age 4 but EA ended up canceling the project in 2017.
At that point, Bioware moved on to different projects, and, over time, many staff members working on Dragon Age left the company, leaving fans unsure as to whether Dragon Age 4 would ever move forward.
Following the original flop, Bioware was known to have picked up Dragon Age again, but only on the 2nd of June 2022 did fans get a concrete update, with the announcement of the game's title: Dragon Age: Dreadwolf.
Currently, there is little known about the new game, but the Dragon Age Team has confirmed that fans can expect nothing more than updates in 2022, meaning that the game would come out in 2023 at the earliest.
In a 2021 article, GamesBeat suggested that Dragon Age 4 is unlikely to be available on PS4. This information was derived from the LinkedIn profile of the then Lead Player Designer of Bioware, who mentioned working on Dragon Age.
The consoles mentioned in the LinkedIn profile were PS5, Xbox Series X+S, and PC even though other projects by the same employee included PS4. This has led to the belief that Dragon Age 4 will not be a cross-generational game, as is the case with some of the works coming out in 2022.
Will Dragon Age 4 Be On Xbox 1?
Similarly to PS4, Xbox 1 was not mentioned as one of the platforms Dragon Age: Dreadwolf might be available on.
Of course, until Bioware makes an official announcement about the features of Dragon Age 4 this is subject to change and there's still room for speculation.
That being said, it will be a while before Dragon Age: Dreadwolf comes out and by then, it's likely that the gaming world will have moved forward from older gaming platforms.
This article will be updated with more information in case of an official announcement by Bioware.
