Will Black Widow Feature a Flashback with Thunderbolt Ross?

We've known for a while that Black Widow will take place after the events of Captain America: Civil War, but it looks like we could be getting much farther back in the timeline.

There's an image of Senator Thunderbolt Ross (William Hurt) in the latest teaser, but he looks to have been significantly de-aged. Check it out:

We don't know at what point this story will be, but I'm sure some fans would want to see what Natasha Romanoff was up to before we met her in Iron Man 2. Maybe we're going to see how she ends up recruited by SHIELD, but some are hoping we could finally find out what exactly happens in Budapest; seeing that Hawkeye is such an important figure to Nat in the films, I wouldn't doubt that he would make at least a cameo in the Black Widow movie.

For now, we have yet to get an official synopsis for Black Widow yet, but we do know that it will involve her digging up her past; and this is just speculation on my point, but possibly find someone to take up her Avengers mantle. With Widow dead, there's now a big void that Marvel Studios has to fill, and fans are almost sure that it's going to be rising star Florence Pugh. She just made a hit with Midsommar, so it could be great timing that she's going to be the new Widow.

Again, I'm just speculating at this point.

Catch Black Widow when it hits theaters May 1, 2020.
