Why This Behind-The-Scenes Weapon X Clip From ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Sets Up ‘Wolverine 3'

Even before X-Men: Apocalypse was released, the appearance of Hugh Jackman's Wolverine was already teased in the trailers. In fact, director Bryan Singer even went on record to hype the appearance and revealed that the character will be "truly Weapon X" in the movie.

Now, it's been weeks since the release of X-Men: Apocalypse, but Singer has decided to share a behind-the-scenes clip of Hugh Jackman's Weapon X clawing his way out of William Stryker's military facility. There aren't any actual claws though, since that part was added in via CGI, but the reaction and intensity on Jackman's face and movements still look pretty awesome.

Fox may have released few details about Wolverine 3, but it's pretty clear how this quick video of Wolverine as Weapon X sets up Wolverine 3. The plot has been explored already in previous X-Men films, with X2 flashbacks and X-Men Origins: Wolverine opening, it certainly aligns with the events of X-Men: Apocalypse. In addition, it's worth noting that there have been reports that the title for the highly anticipated Wolverine 3 is directly related to the clip above – Weapon X!

In any case, we're very excited to see Hugh Jackman reprise his role as Wolverine for the final time in Wolverine 3. I can find no better way for the actor to end his tenure as the fan-favorite clawed mutant than with an R-rated movie, full of unadulterated action sequences.
