Why Chloë Grace Moretz Will Not Be Dyeing Her Hair Red For The Little Mermaid

When it was announced last month that Chloë Grace Moretz will be the lead star in the upcoming live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid, fans were expecting her to dye her hair red to depict Ariel, but Chloë just confirmed that her version of the main character will be different from what Disney etched in our memories.

This new version of the film is based on the original fairytale by Christian Andersen, so Ariel is not involved in this story at all.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Chloë opened up about her new role, and she said she's staying blonde. Yup, so no bright red hair, and no Ariel. The 18-year-old actress also said that she's looking to make her character "progressive for young women" in this modern take on the classic.

It might take us a bit to get used to seeing The Little Mermaid's mane going from crimson to blond. There's even a fan-made video that re-imagines Disney's Ariel as a blond character:

That ridiculous video got over 4 million views!

So do you think Chloë's version of The Little Mermaid would be the ideal version? I'm just looking forward to see her play the role. I think Moretz is a brilliant actress, and I'm her hair color won't matter much once we see her kick ass with her role.
