Westworld was a big hit when it ran its first season on HBO last year with many praising the science fiction western thriller not just for its production quality but for its complexity and for the way it mixes genres to shake things up in the television landscape.

The only problem with the series is that it takes time to make, and though HBO dropped the Season 2 trailer of Westworld at the San Diego Comic Con last weekend, the network didn't give any specifics as to when the new season would premiere.

Now, giving out a PR overview (via Screenrant) of its current original HBO or Cinemax TV series premiere dates, the network has revealed that Westworld would return with its second season sometime in spring next year. After airing its first season during last year's fall, fans were hoping that Westworld would return in 2017, however it seemed like the network needed to take some time on the film's production.

While the scheduling might not seem much, Westworld moving to Spring 2018 schedule instead of Fall is a pretty significant move, allowing the series to take place the season that used to belong to the network's phenomenal fantasy epic Game Of Thrones. It looks like David Benioff and D.B. Weiss' show now has an heir.

Here's a synopsis for Westworld:

Westworld is an American science fiction western thriller television series created by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy for HBO. ... The story takes place in the fictionalWestworld, a technologically advanced Wild West–themed amusement park populated by android hosts.
