Adventure Time has had quite the run on Cartoon Network and after eight years, the show will officially end in 2018. Following the Adventure Time: Islands miniseries, Cartoon Network has revealed the opening for yet another spinoff, Adventure Time: Elements.
Aside from Finn and Jake, the show will also focus on the Ice King as well as his estranged lover from the past, Betty. It's still unclear what the miniseries will ultimately be about, but knowing Adventure Time, it's going to be a weird and wacky mystery that's fun for kids but still chockfull of adult material that will fly over their heads.
I think Adventure Time had ushered a new era of cartoons for this generation, and it set the tone for children's shows that can still be enjoyed by adults. Because of the success of the show, we had other gems like Regular Show, Steven Universe, Clarence,The Amazing World of Gumball, and We Bare Bears. Looking at the newer episodes of Spongebob Squarepants, you can even see that the show is trying to bank on the random humor that Adventure Time has been known for.
Adventure Time: Elements is said to air a special episode on April 1, then two-episode batches will be aired on April 24 and 27. Catch it on Cartoon Network.
