Warner Bros. To Release Commemorative Edition of Animated Wonder Woman Movie

Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman solo will hit cinemas in a few months time and to celebrate DC's first female superhero live-action film, Warner Bros. decides to release a commemorative edition of the 2009 Wonder Woman animated film based on George Perez's reboot of the Amazon princess.

However, Warner Bros' press release for the commemorative edition reveals that the feature-length animated movie's rating has been toned down. Instead of its original R-Rating, the new edition is rated PG-13. According to Gizmodo, the original plan was to release the film with its original R rating, however DC decided to edit the film down to PG-13 probably to allow younger audiences enjoy the film.

Fans don't have to worry though- the rating won't really do much to hinder the 2009 Wonder Woman animated movie from telling its story. Warner Bros. is really gearing up fans for the release of the live-action Wonder Woman which is expected to lift up the stumbling DC Extended Universe.

Here's the synopsis of the film:

On the mystical island of Themyscira, a proud and fierce warrior race of Amazons have raised a princess of untold beauty, grace and strength – Diana. When U.S. fighter pilot Steve Trevor crash-lands on the island, the rebellious and headstrong Diana defies Amazonian law by accompanying Trevor back to civilization. Meanwhile, Ares (the God of War) has escaped his imprisonment at the hands of the Amazonians and has decided to exact his revenge by starting a World War that will last for centuries and wipe out every living being on the planet, starting with the Amazons. It is up to Diana to save her people and the world – by using her gifts and becoming the ultimate Wonder Woman!

The Wonder Woman animated film's commemorative release is slated on May 2 with a Blu-Ray Combo Pack and DVD release scheduled for May 16. The DCEU's Wonder Woman live action is slated for June 2.
