Warcraft is Now The Highest Grossing Video Game Film Of All Time

Duncan Jones' Warcraft film has now grossed more at the box office than any previous video game films.

The epic fantasy film has performed well in China's box office, grossing over $200 million to its combined $377.6 million worldwide earnings, according to Box Office Mojo. That record sets it higher than the previous recod holder, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, which grossed $355 million back in 2010. Even considering inflation adjustments, Warcraft still beats Prince of Persia's $370m approximate gross. With the way it's doing well in China, it might even beat Star Wars: The Force Awakens' box office record in that country. The film also set the record for the biggest debut for a foreign film in the country's cinema history.

World of Warcraft is one of the most popular games played in China, and the franchise's popularity contributed to the financial success of the film rather than the quality of the film and its story. You can read our review here.
