WandaVision Director Says Series Is Sitcom Mixed With 'Huge, Epic' Action

There might not be that much information about the story behind Marvel's WandaVision series just yet, however, the highly anticipated Disney+ project has been described as one of the strangest things to come out of Marvel Studios.

Speaking in an interview with Extra Butter,WandaVision director Matt Shakman (The Boys, Game of Thrones) decided to talk more about his upcoming Marvel live-action series, saying that the show has a lot of surprises set for Marvel fans.

"We can't say much. It's all pretty much on lockdown at this moment, but all we can say really is it's a blend of classic sitcom and huge, epic Marvel action," the director told the publication.

In a previous interview with Entertainment Weekly, Scarlet Witch star Elizabeth Olsen described WandaVision in the same way, saying that the series is actually a mix of American sitcoms through the decades. The series is then expected to "snowball into an epic Marvel movie that you've grown to know or love."

Marvel has yet to confirm the source material for the series, however, fans suspect that WandaVision is going to take a few notes from House of M, a classic comic book series where Scarlet Witch bends reality.

Written by Brian Michael Bendis and illustrated by Olivier Copiel, the House of M comic book storyline has Scarlet Witch suffering a mental breakdown and then altering the fabric of reality so that she can recreate her lost children. This alternate reality allows the Avengers and the X-Men whatever their hearts desire, creating a world of chaos.
