Vin Diesel in Talks For Lead Role in Bloodshot

Sony's attempt at making a cinematic universe out of the characters from Valiant Comics is taking an interesting turn, now that Vin Diesel has supposedly been contacted to play as the lead in Bloodshot. Previous reports have stated that Jared Leto was up for the role, so this new report will likely raise some eyebrows. At the least, it will definitely get people talking about the next comic book movie-verse.

According to The Wrap, this project will reunite Diesel with Neal Moritz, who helped produce the Fast and the Furious franchise. Considering how those films have made Diesel a megastar, it's easy to see why he would be eager to work with Mortiz again.

That's not the only notable talent attached to the project. Dave Wilson, the partner of Deadpool director Tim Miller in Blur Studios, is slated to direct the film. Eric Heisserer of Arrival fame will write the film.

Bloodshot is arguably one of Valiant's most popular characters, or at the least, is part of the brand's "trinity" of characters. Other notable characters from the universe include X-O Manowar, Faith, Archer and Armstong, Ninjak, and so much more. The character's current series - Bloodshot Reborn - is being written by superstar writer Jeff Lemire, who has had stellar runs in both Marvel and DC.

The plan is to release the film sometime in 2019. No definitive release date has been discussed.
