It looks like Tom Hardy isn't the only amorphous extraterrestrial parasite in Sony's Venom standalone. While it doesn't seem like Tom Holland's Spider-Man won't be there to shoot webs at Venom in the movie, it looks like Sony's planning to bring in Carnage instead.

Speaking in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Sony Head Tom Rothman discussed the studio's plans for its Spider-Man-related universe outside of what Marvel is creating for Tom Holland's Spidey in the MCU. In the article, the publication confirmed Carnage would be appearing in the film, most likely as its villain.

"As for the expansion plans, Tom Hardy is starring in Venom, dated for Oct. 5, 2018, which will also feature the villain Carnage. A source says Holland is only contractually obligated to Spider-Man 2 and 3, but the intention is to bring him into the spinoffs and possibly other Marvel films (he is currently shooting Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War)."

It's a casual drop that doesn't really say much, but the studio is likely to reveal more information in time. A symbiote himself, Cletus Kasady/ Carnage would be a great villain for the R-Rated Venom if given the proper film treatment. Let's wait and see how the movie fares.

Venom hits cinemas on October 5, 2018.
